WHITCHURCH were crowned Basingstoke and District Tennis Mixed League Division Four champions, with an unbeaten record of six wins in seven games.

The team was made up of Emma Longton, Julie Bourne, Luis Morris and captain Huw Crompton and they wrapped the title up with a 6-2 victory over Beechdown C.

Whitchurch’s success follows hot on the heels of the same team’s summer league promotion to the Division Three. Whitchurch now field three league sides, mixed A and B, and ladies.

l Beechdown A dominate Division One after a fourth straight win. This was 6-2 over previously unbeaten Overton A, as Clare Munns/Simon James won all their sets.

RSF A had their first win 5-3 over Aldermaston A and second placed Goodworth Clatford A beat Old Basing A 6-2.

Division Two is still led by Totally Tennis A and Oakley A, as Oakley team won 8-0 over Mortimer A.

Beechdown B secured a 7-1 win at RSF B thanks to a maximum from Phil Banfield/Ali Coughlan.

Oakley B beat Hook 8-0, but Hook moved off the bottom after their first win 5-3 over RSF B. Graham Jones/Pam Verdon gave Odiham B a 6-2 win against Preston Candover.

Old Basing B recorded two comfortable wins over Mortimer B 8-0 and Overton B 7-1 in Division Three. Darren and Emma Giddings and Alex and Tina Wood made up their team against Mortimer.

A maximum from Antonia Durrant/Dave Bull gave Aldermaston B a 6-2 win against Kingsclere and Overton B won 5-3 at Mortimer B with Pam Taylor and Keiran Hughes being undefeated.
