BASINGSTOKE Bluefins celebrated another successful year with the annual awards night and disco in the middle of December.

A fantastic evening was had by swimmers, coaches, parents and volunteers and trophies and medals were awarded for the Club Championships held in September and October and merit awards for performances throughout the year.

Top male swimmer was awarded to Mitchell Coombes and top female swimmer to Molly Goffin.

The club champions and their age groups were as follows: Connor Cherrington and Charlotte Mahaffey (boy and girl under-nine, respectively), Alexander Heath and Chloe Garlinge (10 year olds), James Marston and Jessica Bettesworth (11 year olds).

Max Nowak and Amelia Trist (12 year olds), John Holt and Julia Lebosse (13 year olds), Graeme Richardson and Kara Davies (14 year olds), William Sadler and Molly Goffin (15 year olds).

Mitchell Coombes and Mairead Barker (16 year olds), Aaron Hardy and Kate Carter (17/18 year olds) and Brendan Giltinane and Michelle Matson (19 and over).

Merit awards were awarded to the following swimmers Chichi Okafor, Iwan Follett, Lucy Sullivan, Campbell Haynes, Becky Bilson, Sebastian Courtois, Amina Mannan, Amelia Rhodes, Megan Wareham, Matt Griffiths, Cayla Wall, William Dodd, Scott Campbell, Leah Farrant, Lucy Williams, Grace Merrin, Neil Mitchell, Zoe Sadler, Lewis Fenn and Harrison Crass.

The Bluefins have 34 swimmers in the Hampshire County ASA Championships which take place over three weekends from January 23.
