DESPITE only taking 10 men to Lavant Tadley Hockey Club men's team won in Sussex 3-2 to moved up to fourth Hampshire Division Eight.
After a tightly fought first half, the teams went into the break at 1-1 with Robert Rand having notched his second goal of the season.
The second half started with the predatory Mark Foster finishing two well-constructed goals to put Tadley 3-1 ahead.
Lavant reacted with a goal to reduce the lead 15 minutes from the end.
Tadley denied the home side a number of chances with Stuart Macklin being awarded man of the match for his typically resolute and muscular resistance.
Tadley’s next match is against Fleet and Eweshot III on Saturday at Bradfield College.
