FATHER and son Ron and George Peploe have been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Association of Kickboxing Organisation World Championships, which will be held in Dublin in November.

George will compete in one of the most difficult sections, the men’s under-84 kg division, taking on many of the top fighters in the world.

Ron is representing GB in the veterans over-40 under 94kg category, where he will hope to add a world championship to the European title he won last year.

Both had to attend a GB squad training weekend in Staffordshire, where they completed six hours of training and sparring each day alongside with the rest of the British team.

The next few months will see both increasing their training and fitness levels as well as attending regular tournaments.

They will also be training for eight days with the world-renowned Kiraly team in Hungary in preparation for the World Championships.

The father and son combination from the Basingstoke Kickboxing Organisation enjoyed a winning double at the Northants Open.

George, fighting in the Men’s Open category, beat Blaine Watson in the final.

Ron entered the veterans over-35 class and beat Daz Ellis with a thrilling extra-time victory in the final.
