BASINGSTOKE cheerleading club Rising Phoenix completed their first season with three trophies at the International Cheerleading Coalitions Summer Jam Championships in Blackpool.
A total of 34 athletes travelled to the seaside town and they had new uniforms and music for their routines.
The club has only been going for six months and for 75 per cent of the teams it was their first-ever competition.
The youngest team, Flame, who are aged from four to nine, were entered into the mini level one cheer division. They did extremely well to finish sixth after receiving maximum points for their tumble.
Fury, a mixed team, were delighted to take second place in the senior level two cheer division as their routine received zero deductions.
The Phoenix’s Charlie Nash then took part in the solo senior tumble where she finished fifth, collecting the club’s third trophy.
Their latest outing in Blackpool built on the success of their first-ever competition in Loughborough, where their Senior Group Stunts teams finished third and fourth.
Amanda Stait, programme director, said: “We cannot wait to start our first full cheerleading season in September.”
