FATHERS and daughters undoubtedly have a special bond and Oakley’s Jenny Moss admits that taking part in the upcoming Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 alongside her Dad will make the experience all the more special.

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 is a 100-mile ride that takes in the closed roads of the capital and the stunning Surrey countryside before finishing on The Mall.

Jenny, who only started cycling just over a year ago, missed out on a place through the original ballot but was awarded a spot on Team Pru after organisers heard her story.

The 42-year-old will now have the opportunity to take part with her father Vernon Dunford, who turns 70 in August, and she thinks the ride will be the perfect early birthday present.

“Me and my Dad are riding it together – I wanted to do it with him because he’s 70 this year,” explained Jenny, who cycles for Oakley Pedalers.

“I thought it would be great because I’ve only just started cycling but he has been doing it for years.

“I said to my Dad that I would get in some way and he didn’t really believe me, but when I did get a place he thought it was brilliant.

"This will be the first time we’ve done anything like this as a pair.”

Prudential RideLondon is a two-day festival of cycling that celebrates the legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games.

As part of Team Pru, Jenny will have the chance to ride many of the same roads the Olympians did three years ago.

She hadn’t even taken up cycling when the Olympics came to London and admits she never expected to make this amount of progress in such a short space of time.

“I only took cycling up about a year and four months ago,” added Jenny.

“There was a club called Oakley Pedalers near where I live who do social rides.

“I did a little 12-mile ride with them at first and felt like I’d done a marathon. I felt elated to do 12 miles and never dreamed I would get to where I am now.”

Prudential RideLondon takes place on 1-2 August 1-2, 2015. Prudential is proud to support people’s ambitions. Visit www.pru.co.uk.
