NORTH Hampshire Road Club edged out Andover Wheelers in the first leg of this year's inter-club time-trial event.

The race was held on North Hampshire's 18.2mile Dummer circuit, with the times of the first five male and best lady riders being added together.

North Hampshire will take a slender 39second advantage into the second leg at Andover later in the summer thanks to an overall time of 273min 43sec.

Andover's Simon Healey was the winner on the night, clocking 42:19, while Phil Watts was the quickest home rider, finishing in 42:48. Jake Prior (VC St Raphael) claimed third place in 43:15.

Judit Leszkovich of Andover was the fastest lady, clocking 51:06, just two seconds quicker than North Hampshire's Susan Parker.
