ODIHAM'S Alex Danson and the Great Britain Ladies hockey team remain on course for an Olympic qualifying place, after winning their pool in the World League semi-finals in Valencia.

The GB girls need to finish in the top three to qualify for the Rio Olympics next year and tomorrow they face South Africa in the quarter-finals which starts at 3.30pm BST.

Danson's team will start as strong favourites in the game as their opponents have yet to win a game, but did draw 0-0 with Germany in their pool.

A victory for GB over the South African would set-up a semi-final against either Spain or Germany on Saturday (3.30pm) with the final on Sunday at 6pm BST.

Ireland, China, Argentina and the USA are in the other side of the draw.

Great Britain latest victory maintained the team's 100 per cent record in the competition as they beat China 2-0.

Both goals were scored by Sophie Bray with Danson playing a big part in the opening goal in the fourth minute which saw forced her way along the baseline before she cut back the ball back for Bray to score.

Danson had a number of chances of her own to add to GB's tally, before Bray made sure of the win with a goal three minutes from time.

Earlier in their pool games GB beat Spain (2-0) Argentina (2-0) and Canada (4-2).
