BASINGSTOKE ice skating star Danielle Harrison was crowned junior ladies champion at the National Ice Skating Association’s International Judging System Championship at Ice Sheffield.

The 14-year-old took the crown in what is a prestigious event and a key qualification competition for the British nationals.

Ice Sheffield will also host the British Championships at the end of November, and Harrison will hope to have more success there.

Everest Community Academy pupil Harrison has also been in action at two International Skating Union Junior Grand Prix events in Europe.

As part of a small Great Britain team, Harrison travelled to Ostrava in the Czech Republic and then to the Estonian capital, Tallinn, skating in a 6,000-seat arena.

She came 15th in the junior ladies event in Ostrava and was in action last month in Tallinn.
