TADLEY Calleva produced one of the best performances of the season, as they drew 0-0 at Wessex League Division One league leaders Portland United.

The Dorset side are the league's leading scorers and this was only the fourth time this season they have failed to win in 22 starts.

The draw also keeps Tadley's promotion dreams alive as they are six points behind second placed Amesbury with two games in hand.

They will hope to close the gap closer on Tuesday night, when they travel to Ringwood who are 14th looking to extend their unbeaten run to 12 games.

A delighted Tadley boss Danny Dolan said: "It was a fantastic result at Portland and I must thank Portland for their hospitality both on and off the pitch. The game was a credit to the league and 117 watched it.

"It was a great team performance, but if I had to pick a man of the match it would be Spencer Barlow.

Dolan added: "Ringwood is not going to be easy, but we will be looking to keep our unbeaten run."

In a game of few chances leading scorer Brett Denham came closest for the visitors at Portland.

Tadley were also boosted this week with the news they have managed to keep striker Grant Powell, who had interest from Amesbury in signing him.
