BRACES from Adam Everiss and Sam Argent saw Hartley Wintney win a home thriller 4-3 over Spelthorne Sports on Tuesday night.

The victory saw the Combined Counties League Premier Division leaders move 13 points clear, ahead of their top of the table clash at Westfield on Saturday.

The home side led 2-1 at the break, thanks to a pair of goals from Argent, the second assisted by Everiss.

After the interval, Everiss extended the lead as he converted a Steve Laidler cross.

The visitors, who have beaten Hartley in the FA Cup earlier in the season, levelled things at 3-3.

It was left to Everiss to make sure of the Row's 13th straight win.

After the game, joint manager Danny Brownlie said: "It was a game for the neutral that's for sure.

"We did well in spells and clinical when we needed to be. Despite them scoring one good goal, we felt we could have done better with the others.

"What impressed me most was the sheer determination and grit to ensure we banked all three points. Valuable points too as Spelthorne are a good side."

Looking ahead to Saturday's game Brownlie added: "Saturday is an exciting fixture, we've watched Westfield already on a couple of occasions and they're a very good outfit.

"It'll be a tough game but we can go there with real confidence, it should be a great game."
