ROSS Cook knocked in his second hat-trick in the space of five days as Hartley Wintney caused an upset in the FA Cup.

Cook followed up his treble in Hartley's 7-0 demolition of Cove last Tuesday by bagging another hat-trick as Dan Brownlie's men knocked Southern League outfit Banbury United out of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Visiting Banbury took the lead after 18 minutes through Duran Martin, but Cook levelled from a free-kick seconds later.

Hartley were handed a golden chance to go ahead on the stroke of half-time, when Sam Argent was fouled in the penalty area, with the guilty Banbury player shown a red card.

Argent's penalty was saved, while the striker missed another good chance early in the second half.

It looked like Argent's misses would be costly as Mark Bell restored Banbury's lead just before the hour, but Steven Duff levelled the game at 2-2 10 minutes later.

Hartley went ahead for the first time in the game on 80 minutes, Cook firing home at the end of a good run, while the striker completed his hat-trick five minutes later.

Banbury then had a goal ruled out for offside, but Adam Everiss put the result beyond any doubt late on, making the final score 5-2 in favour of Hartley.

The results means that Hartley will host local rivals Fleet Town in the First Qualifying Round of the competition next weekend.

Before that, they are in Hampshire Senior Cup action tonight, making the short trip to face Wessex League Division One outfit Tadley Calleva.
