OVERTON United enjoyed a 2-0 victory over visiting Stockbridge in the Hampshire Premier League.

The visitors had the better of the start and only some good saves from home goalie Sean O'Brien kept them out.

Having weathered the early storm Overton hit back as Chris Lavisher slotted home after 30 minutes and they then had a whole host of chances from Kirk Smith and Myles Englefield, but were unable to add to their tally.

The home side then lost Dave Case from the centre of their defence 10 minutes into the second-half, but sub Ben Dibbern linked up really well with man of the match Smith to keep Stockbridge out.

Overton doubled their lead after 65 minutes as Nathan Rae fed Lavisher for his second of the contest.

After this Jonny Gurney and Myles Englefield both saw shots hit the post and Sammie Aldoori was also denied by a great save.

After the game, manager Titch Bloomfield said: "It was a great win for us and I am delighted we were able to build on the success of last week. This week we have Colden Common and we owe them as they beat us earlier in the season."
