READING recorded their first away Championship win in five games as they dented Wolverhampton Wanderers play-off hopes with 2-1 victory.
The Royals got off to a dream start as Pavel Pobrebnyak scored after 20 seconds with a near post finish.
The home side hit back and Bakary Sako saw his header cleared off the line by Nathaniel Chalobah.
Wolves equalised after 26 minutes as Benik Afobe headed in a Rajiv Van La Parra great cross.
However, Reading were not to be denied the win as Danny Williams slotted home with a low shot from just outside the area after a lovely lay back from Garath McCleary.
A delighted Reading manager Steve Clarke said: “I think we deserved the win as I felt we shaded the game.”
The Royals are back in action on Tuesday night when they entertain lowly Leeds United in another Championship encounter at the Madejski Stadium (kick-off 8pm).
