READING went down 3-1 at title chasing Blackburn Rovers in the Championship, as Rudy Gestede scored a goal in each half.

The Royals hoping to build on the win over Blackpool last weekend, fell behind after 17 minutes, as Gestede headed home.

The visitors levelled thanks to a tap-in from Glenn Murray, from Jordan Obita’s low centre, and it remained 1-1 to half-time.

After the break, a superb free-kick from Ben Marshall gave the home side the lead and then Gestede put in Jordan Rhodes’ rebound to complete the win.

Reading manager Nigel Adkins was left fuming after the defeat, especially Rovers’ second goal and said: “I've watched it back on video four or five times and for me it's not a free-kick, and it's a big turning point. From there, the confidence in Blackburn grew.”

The Royals are back in action on Tuesday night, when they entertain Rotherham United at home (kick-off 8pm).
