HARTLEY Wintney suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of visiting Raynes Park Vale at the Memorial Ground on Saturday.

The visitors led 2-0 at half-time and added two more goals in the space of four second-half minutes to complete a comfortable victory.

The result leaves Hartley Wintney 14th in the Combined Counties League Premier Division table. However, their outstanding run to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup means they have played fewer games than all of the sides above them.

Hartley would actually be top of the table if they won all of their games in hand but their fixture backlog was not helped by the fact that Tuesday’s trip to Molesey was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

The village side are due to travel to struggling Ash United on Saturday, while current leaders South Park are scheduled to visit the Memorial Ground next Tuesday.
