CHARLIE Henry made a dream debut for Hampshire Irons, hitting a hat-trick as his new side came from behind to beat DJS Telecoms 4-3 in Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division One.

Henry opened the scoring with a shot from just outside the box after 15 minutes, but Lee Neal converted Ashley Roberts’ pass to level and it was DJS who led at the break thanks to Neal’s second.

Irons levelled when a long throw from Gavin Curry led to an own goal, but DJS regained the lead as Ashley Elward netted a rebound.

But it was not to be DJS’ day. Tom Chant sent Henry through for him to make it 3-3 and another long throw led to Henry scoring his third and the decider.

Favourites Hook suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to visiting Basingstoke Athletic.

An own goal had Athletic ahead, Jon Noakes heading into his own net, but Hook pulled level just before the break, Andy Parker heading home. Athletic got the winner with 20 minutes left, Ryan Evans finding the net.

TwentyTen and Basingstoke Labour Club played out a 1-1 draw. TwentyTen took the lead in 65th minute, Ryan Lupton slotting home from Carl Pearson’s pass, but Labour levelled 10 minutes later, Mark West scoring from a free-kick.

Sherborne St John romped to a 7-2 victory over visiting Overton United A.

Ibraham Waheed put Sherborne ahead from the penalty spot and while Ben Pierce managed to level, further Sherborne goals from Sam Taylor and Sachin Rei had the hosts 3-1 up.

Waheed got his second of the game after the break, with James Lovell making it 5-1. Jamal Rose got a second for Overton, but Mukum Limbu and a Lovell penalty completed the scoring.
