BASINGSTOKE United and Tron played out a 1-1 draw on the opening day of the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two season.

Tron were expected to win, but it was United who were the better side in the first half, with Gus Reis, Joe Cook and Callum Silcox all going close.

Ben Nicholls and Stuart Austen saw efforts saved by United goalkeeper James Sallows, but it was the underdogs who went ahead early in the second half, Reis firing home from Tom Hartley's pass.

Austen's cross resulted in an equaliser for Nicholls soon after, and Tron ended the game on the front foot, with Gordon Birch and Nathan Rae both going close.

The game between TDI Group and Bounty United also ended in a draw, the teams sharing six goals between them.

Bounty took the lead after 12 minutes, Lawrence Benge firing home after Paul Barton's shot was parried, but TDI levelled through James Brown soon after.

Macaulay Carvell gave TDI the lead, but Benge sprung the offside trap to set up Barton to make it 2-2 on the half-hour.

Jack Barlow restored the TDI lead before half-time, but Bounty were the better side after the break and levelled from the penalty spot, Andy Darmody converting from 12 yards after the hosts had been penalised for handball.

Brown thought he had scored a late winner for TDI, but the flag was up for offside and both sides had to settle for a point.

Basingstoke Athletic Reserves recovered from conceding an early goal to win 3-1 away at AFC Aldermaston A.

Chris Mullins put the hosts ahead, but Athletic soon levelled, Tom Strong setting up Michael Bordely.

Strong also provided the assist as Sam Patterson put Athletic ahead on the half-hour, while Nick Chaplin added a third on 65 minutes to complete the victory.

Kyle Buckland found the net four times as Overton United B won 7-2 away at AFC Berg.

Berg took an early lead through Robin Brunger and while Buckland levelled from Matt Aslett's cross, Brunger's second of the game had the hosts back in front at half-time.

Aslett scored direct from a corner to make it 2-2 early in the second half and Overton took control thereafter.

Buckland converted Mickey Fuller's pass to put the visitors ahead, with John Holder making it 4-2.

Another Fuller pass allowed Buckland to complete his hat-trick, while Aslett and Tom Green were involved as Paul Eldridge got on the scoresheet.

It was left to Buckland to complete the scoring, getting his fourth and Overton's seventh from another Fuller pass.
