IT IS tight at the top of Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two after leaders Basingstoke Labour Club were held to a 2-2 draw by Winklebury Wizards.

Mark West put Labour ahead after 22 minutes, but Josh Dickens levelled early in the second half and Connor Stratton converted Scott Large’s through-ball to put Winklebury ahead.

Labour left it late to draw level, West getting his second of the game from a free-kick. They are still five points clear at the top, but they have just one match left, while their closest rivals have games in hand.

Bounty United’s title hopes suffered a major setback with a 4-2 defeat at home to Basingstoke United.

Bounty took the lead after two minutes, Jordon Willis heading home Steve Bucksey’s free-kick.

Joe Cook and Tom Hartley replied to put United 2-1 ahead at the break and while Brad Neal made it 2-2 early in the second half, Cook got his second to restore United’s advantage.

Craig Williamson went close to levelling, heading against the bar, but Cook completed his hat-trick to wrap up the win.

A goal from full-back Richard Nash earned Aldermaston A all three points from their game against Overton United B. Nash’s piledriver from 40 yards was the only goal of the game.

Kyle Buckland hit a hat-trick as Preston Candover romped to a 5-1 win over AFC Berg.

Lewis Hamilton’s strike had Candover in pole position at half-time, while further goals from Buckland and Michael Fuller extended the lead early in the second half.

Kieran Alleyne pulled one back for Berg, but Buckland scored twice more to complete his hat-trick.
