BASINGSTOKE Royals moved five points clear at the top of the Basingstoke and District Saturday League Premier Division with a 5-1 victory over Hook.
Steve Price opened the scoring after just six minutes, with Tom Smith firing home from long range to double the lead. James Gilham’s goal extended the lead further, with Price getting his second to give Royals a four-goal lead at half-time.
Hook goalkeeper Greg Archer did well to save a penalty on the hour, but Price followed up to complete his hat-trick. Hook got a late consolation goal, Andy Parker finding the net after Mark Beagley had set him up.
Tadley Calleva A fought back from 3-1 down to claim a point from their local derby against Bramley. Stuart Leddy put Bramley ahead early on and while Michael Abbott levelled, goals either side of half-time from Josh Arthur and Les Wood put Bramley in charge.
Kyle Theodore reduced the arrears from a Ben Todd pass and Bramley, who only had 11 players, were left struggling with injuries late on. Tadley grabbed a point as Stephen Burgess snapped up the rebound when Theodore’s shot was parried.
