THE Basingstoke and District Sunday League programme was heavily affected by the weather last weekend, with all games on council-owned pitches being postponed.
League leaders Lamb Inn did have a game, travelling to Andover to take on AFC Wolversdene in the Basingstoke Kelvin Cup, but they came home defeated, beaten 5-4 by the hosts.
Division Three outfit Team caused an upset in the Bernard Cornish Cup, beating Division Two side Oakley Reserves 5-1 to reach the third round.
Oakley’s first team fared much better, beating bottom side Dayer’s Fine Foods 8-0 in Division One.
North Warnborough Two consolidated their hold on second place in Division Two with a 3-1 win over Chineham.
Visiting Chineham made a good start and took the lead through Kieron Alleyne, but Dan Mellors levelled the game before half-time. Trevor Rodgers completed the turnaround after the break, with Peter Keens sealing the victory in the closing stages.
Chineham Reserves lost 5-3 to visitors Basing United in Division Three. Chineham’s goals were scored by Simon Staits, Tom Green and Filer Andrews, but it was Basing who won, a result that leaves them second in the table.
