BASINGSTOKE Athletic are two points clear at the top of Basingstoke and District Saturday League Division Two after a 4-3 victory over Preston Candover.

Ryan Evans scored twice to put Athletic in charge but Dan Trump’s free-kick reduced the deficit before half-time and Jamie Perryman’s strike levelled the match after the break.

Dale Bristow scored twice to restore the home side’s lead, but Kyle Buckland made it 4-3 and Athletic were holding on in the closing stages. They had Sam Loughlan sent off after he picked up two yellow cards and Candover rattled the crossbar late on.

Bounty United hammered bottom side AFC Berg 16-0, with player/manager Jordan Willis netting five times. Craig Williamson, Mitchell Stokes, Will Phillips and Paul Barton all scored twice, with Mike Gilham, Simon Fuller and Brad Neal also finding the net.

Winklebury Wizards remain unbeaten after winning 4-1 away at Basingstoke United, with Ryan Watts claiming a hat-trick.

Watts scored twice in the opening half-hour and while Dan Southgate pulled one back for United, Watts’ third goal made it 3-1 at the break. Tom Hartley hit the post twice as United pressed but Ben Clarke added a fourth for Winklebury late on.

Labour Club are up to third after beating Overton United B 4-3 to make it three wins in a row.

Jesse Todd put Overton ahead in the first half, but Matt Kelly’s penalty levelled the scores shortly after the break. Archie Fletcher restored Overton’s lead, but Wayne Barlow pulled Labour level, only for Overton to take the lead for a third time thanks to Sam White’s long-range effort.

However, Labour were not to be denied. Kelly scored his second penalty of the match to make it 3-3, before completing his hat-trick to strike the crucial blow for his side.
