IN THE Hampshire Sunday Intermediate Cup, Soldiers Return took on Basingstoke Saints in the only all-Basingstoke and District Sunday League tie.
Soldiers Return edged ahead early on through Paul Couchman and dominated the first half but were unable to add to their lead.
Saints levelled 10 minutes into the second half through David Gibson but Alex Izzo restored the lead, a pattern that soon repeated itself as the visitors equalised for a second time, Matthew Cuthbertson getting the goal, only for Couchman to make it 3-2 with his second of the game.
However, late goals from Izzo and Kirby Jubb made the final score 5-2 to Soldiers Return.
Ross Cook hit a hat-trick but ended up on the losing side as Tron went down 5-4 away at Baffins Milton Rovers. Michael Moray got the other goal for Tron.
South View went down 13-2 away at Barton Stacey.
