BASINGSTOKE Saints recovered from three goals down to claim a draw with Basingstoke and District Sunday League Division One leaders Lamb Inn.

First-half strikes from Reece Chapman, Ashley Elwood and Mark Howell had the table-toppers in control, but Saints hit back with three goals in the final 20 minutes to secure an unlikely point.

Liam James made the initial breakthrough, before substitute Omer Fazal came off the bench to fire home from close range and give Saints real hope. Then, right at the death, the equaliser was buried by Jamie O’Toole.

The result gave Saints their first point and brought Lamb’s 100 per cent record to an end.

Soldiers Return made the most of Lamb Inn’s slip to go top of the table with an 8-4 victory away at Oakley, Sean Condon netting a hat-trick for the losing side.

Early goals from Andrew Darmody, Jamie Gilpin and Freddie Cloke had Soldier’s in control early on and while Oakley never gave up, they were unable to match the visitors’ fire-power.

Cloke went on to complete his hat-trick, with Alex Izzo bagging a brace and Andy Butler also finding the net.

A Chris Morris penalty and David Parry’s strike earned Tron a 2-2 draw with Republic of Chineham, while Kaiser Wessex enjoyed a 2-1 victory over South View.

North Warnborough Two and New Inn played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in Division Two.

Hosts Warnborough went ahead through Billy Shepherd and led by one goal at half-time. New Inn levelled and while Trevor Rogers restored the home side’s lead, New Inn then scored twice to take the lead.

However, Warnborough, and Rogers in particular, refused to be beaten, the midfielder getting his second goal of the game to earn his side a point.

Shane West gave visiting Chineham an early lead in their game against Hampshire Irons, but Stephen Bown levelled before half-time and rattled the crossbar with a header after the break. Chineham also hit the woodwork late on as the game ended in a draw.

FC Everest remain top of the table after beating Oakley Reserves 4-3, while RAF Odiham Blades earned their first point with a 3-3 home draw against UWS.

Division Three leaders Eastrop Eagles needed to stage a second-half fightback to save their unbeaten record at home to Chineham Reserves.

Keith Davies’ hat-trick saved the day, with his third coming from the penalty spot as the game ended in a 3-3 draw. Joe Marsh, Kyle Buckland and Tyler Andrews were the Chineham scorers.

Jay Wild grabbed a hat-trick as Soldiers Return Reserves beat AFC Golden Lion 7-0. Connor Izzo and a double from Sam Loughlan had Soldiers three goals ahead before Wild scored twice to put them five clear at the break. Wild completed his treble after half-time and Ben Allnutt’s header completed the rout.

Basing United beat DG Athletic 5-3, despite Callum Howson, Liam Harvey and Richie Budd scoring for the hosts, while Team FC and Chineham Athletic drew 3-3. Ben Owen, Dan Bloomer and Dale Hooper got Team’s goals.
