THE Basingstoke Strikers Disabled Football’s annual tournament takes place on Saturday at The War Memorial Park, near Crossborough Hill.

This is billed as a family fun day and runs from 10am to 4pm with a lot more going on alongside the football, so they are hoping as last year lots of people will come out and support this fund raiser for the team.

This is the second year it has been run, and last year’s proved to be a great success with the team reaching the last four, losing 3-2 to the eventual winners, after they finished second in their group.

This time around they will be looking to make the final, but will be up against stiff opposition from right across the south of England.

Last year’s final was a real thriller, as HFT from Kingston won a penalty shoot-out over Ability Counts Bournemouth.

This year there will also be a tournament for able-bodied adults to participate in for a trophy. The cost is £100 per team in the seven-a-side competition.
