READING drew 1-1 with visiting Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship on Saturday, to end the Yorkshire side’s four game winning streak.

The visitors’ Barry Bannan hit the post early on and then Gary Hooper gave the Owls the lead.

This was after Jack Hunt’s cut back hit team mate Fernando Forestieri and fell kindly for Hooper to score.

Reading had a chance to level things from the penalty spot, after Matej Vydra was fouled by Wednesday captain Glenn Loovens.

However, the Royals’ Czech striker could only find the bottom of the post with his spot kick, as it remained 1-0 at half-time.

After the break, Reading did equalise as Jake Cooper headed in a corner on the 74 minutes mark.

They also had a chance to win the game late on, but new signing from AFC Bournemouth, striker Yann Kemorgant fired wide.

The Royals take a break from Championship action next weekend, when they entertain Walsall in the FA Cup fourth round.

Reading’s next league game is away at Ipswich on Tuesday February 2.
