AFC Aldermaston manager Richard Desay is confident that his side can upset the odds to lift the Berkshire Trophy Centre Senior Cup at the Madejski Stadium tomorrow.

Aldermaston, who finished fifth in the Thames Valley Premier League, will take on Marlow United in the county cup final at the home of Reading FC tomorrow (7pm).

Marlow, the Thames Valley Premier League champions, will go into the game as favourites.

However, Aldermaston have been in top form since the turn of the year and Desay has his sights set on causing a shock.

“It’s going to be a tough game, but we have already beaten Marlow 2-0 away from home this season,” he said. “It’s a cup final, so both teams will be up for the game, but I am confident that we can get the result on the night.

“It is not often that players at this level get the opportunity to play in a Premier League standard stadium, so everyone is looking forward to the whole experience.”

There was a dress rehearsal for the final on Saturday, when Marlow visited Aldermaston on the final day of the season.

The game was of little consequence in terms of the league. AFC were assured of fifth place, while Marlow had already been crowned champions.

However, Aldermaston struck a psychological blow ahead of the final, winning the game 5-1. Matty Wilkins scored twice, with Chris Allen, Kai Parton-Edey and Lee Wheeler also finding the net for the winners.

Entry to tomorrow's final at the Madejski Stadium has been set at £5 for adults and £1 for concessions, with under-16s going free. Gates open at 6pm.
