WHITCHURCH United secured their place in the next round of the Wessex League Cup with a 2-0 victory over visiting New Milton Town at Longmeadow.
The home side, who are flying high in the Premier Division, went into the game as heavy favourites against their Division One opponents.
They didn’t have it all their own way but led at the break thanks to Jamie Mansell’s goal on the stroke of half-time. Jack Garner doubled their advantage with 20 minutes to go, converting from the penalty spot after Danny Phillips had been brought down in the area.
Whitchurch, who sit second in the table, return to league action tomorrow night, travelling to mid-table AFC Portchester.
