THE Abacus Employment Flames and Blaze handed out their player of the month for January to the football pocket rocket – James Owen.

The team’s latest outings have been against Whitchurch and Sherborne St John.

New signing Joel Nicholls and recent addition Toby Osborne, played some great football against Whitchurch.

The new formation of Charlie Barlow up front with Charlie North and Charlie Allen worked like a dream as they grabbed a clutch of goals.

A special mention should go to Freddy Green, who played in defence for the first time and did not look out of place.

The Hatch Warren Blaze dynamo team of Matthew Bull and Xavier Payne tore through the hosts’ defence, whilst Thomas Woodward played a superb game.

In the games against Sherborne St John there was a terrific start from the Flames as they controlled the game in the first-half.

Green was a constant threat up front, as was his replacement Stanley Garrett.

Both were provided excellent service by Barlow and spirit-of-the-game winner North.

Goalkeeper Jack Jupp was swapped for Fraser Barnett, but they had little to do as the defensive partnership of man-of-the-match Brayden Bavister and Mia Chandler stopped every attack.

The Blaze had an equally rewarding morning, enjoying some attacking football courtesy of new recruit Payne.

The partnership of Max Shepherd and Thomas Woodward once again showed great promise, never worried by the size and strength of the Sherborne players whilst goalkeeper Josh Mugridge kept a clean sheet.
