James Vince is in contention to play in tomorrow's World T20 match against Afghanistan tomorrow, with England opener Alex Hales an injury doubt.

Hales sat out net practice on Tuesday after experiencing back pain and will be assessed on the morning of the match to determine his fitness.

Hampshire captain Vince is on standby to join Jason Roy at the top of the order should Hales be forced to sit out of the must-win match.

Vince played the last of his three T20 internationals in November but has been busy in the format this winter, taking part in the Pakistan Super League with Karachi Kings.

He also played for a Mumbai XI against his England team-mates in a pre-tournament warm-up match, scoring 45 in 38 deliveries.

If Vince plays alongside Liam Dawson and Reece Topley, Hampshire would have three players in an England side for the first time in nine years.
