HARTLEY Wintney have a massive weekend of cricket coming up as they entertain Hampshire in a Jimmy Adams benefit game tomorrow, followed by a must-win league game at Calmore Sports on Saturday.

A host of Hampshire stars will be on show at the annual T20 match at Hartley 2.30pm.

Big hitting will be the order of the day in what should be a very entertaining game.

Captain Jamie Teale is looking forward to the encounter and said: “It is a big day for the village as well as the cricket club and I am sure there will be a big crowd.”

Hartley will be able to use the game as warm-up ahead of their crunch clash at Calmore.

The village side are fighting to avoid being relegated back to Southern League Division Two.

Calmore Sports prop up the table and have won just twice this season, losing their last six outings.

When the sides met in May, it was a good contest, with Aaron Wivell top-scoring as Hartley made 256 before bowling Calmore out for 207, Mark Teale taking 4-33.

Teale is one of four players who return to the team this weekend, along with Scott Baldwin, Jack Hersh and Tommy Flanders.

Hartley skipper Jamie Teale said: “They are like us and have been on a losing run, but looking at their scores they have a good bowling attack.

“We are at full strength and this is must-win game if we want to put some daylight between us and the bottom two.”

Hartley have lost their last three games, but they have been in with a shout of winning the last two, with their latest defeat coming at the hands of visiting fourth-placed Bournemouth.

Bournemouth finished on 249-7 and Hartley could only make 231-7 in reply.

Talking after the game Teale said: “We dropped their guy who got 100 on 25 so we ended up chasing 249. We did well to keep up with the rate for most of the game.”
