A PACKED arena on Saturday evening saw us lose narrowly to Peterborough in a top of the table clash.
It was a very disciplined performance by Bison, which made losing in the last few minutes to a power-play goal all the more frustrating.
I’m sure the frustration was shared by the fans, who do so much to support the team.
Our Booster Club, for example, presented us with a large cheque before the game.
They help in so many ways and are an important part of the Bison family.
That family has deep roots in the community. We enjoy a strong affiliate relationship with the other teams playing out of Basingstoke and I was delighted to invite Daniel Lackey to join Bison.
He got himself into good shape over the summer and has been training with us. We appreciate Buffalo making him available to play for us as we come down the stretch.
Ice hockey enjoys the biggest support in Basingstoke which is a sport-rich community.
We take pride in local people who excel in their chosen sport, so Shaun Udal, from the cricketing world, was warmly welcomed as one of the presentation party at the end of the game.
I’m in the enviable position of having two number one goal tenders. Jon Baston has been playing for us since Tomas Hiadlovsky was injured and has already recorded a club record for the number of shut-outs in a season. Tomas has now fully recovered and travelled with us to play in Sheffield. He celebrated his return with an assist in our 6-3 win.
We’ve got six games in the next ten days, starting tomorrow with a game against Swindon on home ice.
Come and join us for a great evening’s entertainment.
