BASINGSTOKE’S Leanne Ganney and Great Britain women had to settle for the silver medal at the World Championships Division Two A in Maribor.
This was after the team suffered final-day heartbreak in the gold medal match as they lost 4-0 to the Netherlands.
In the opening game of the tournament GB beat Australia 5-4 and Ganney, the Brits captain who plays in Sweden scored twice.
She scored her side’s fourth and fifth goals at 52:04 and 54:32.
Ganney was on target again in GB's second game as they beat South Korea 3-1.
The Brits won their third game 5-0 against Mexico as they out shot them 56-5 and the Basingstoke player picked up an assist on goal number two.
They then set up a gold medal showdown thanks to a 4-1 success over hosts Slovenia.
