THE Basingstoke Bison's three game winning run came to an end at the Hive on Sunday night, as they lost 4-1 to the Bracknell Bees.

Bracknell maintained their unbeaten home record and survived an early penalty after Josh Tetlow was sent to the sin bin in the opening minute.

The home side killed the penalty and then took the lead thanks to a great strike from Frankie Bakrik in the fourth minute.

He then turned provider for player/coach Lukas Smital, who doubled his side's advantage at 9:44.

The visitors tried to find a way back, but Bees man-of-the-match Alex Mettam kept them at bay.

They did however, beat him in the second session, thanks to a lovely goal from Ciaran Long and after they survived a powerplay shortly after.

The Herd were given a great chance to level things up when given over a minute of a two man advantage after the Bees had picked up a bench minor for too many men and then Lewis Turner departed for cross checking.

They failed to capitalise on the excellent opportunity and then Milan Kostourek, like Bakrlik a summer signing for the Bees, made it 3-1 before the second buzzer.

A early powerplay in the final session gave the Bison some hope, but again they were unable to make the extra man count.

It was left to Matt Towalski to make sure the home side won the game as he netted his side fourth goal at 46:30.

Bison defenceman Stuart Mogg for another solid performance on the blue line picked up the man-of-the-match award.

Next up for the Bison is a home game against reigning league champions the Telford Tigers on Saturday.
