RYAN Sutton scored twice, including the game winner as the Bison maintained their perfect pre-season record with a 6-4 win in Guildford.

Sutton, a top forward with the Basingstoke Buffalo, was called into the line-up in place of the suspended Ciaran Long and took his chance to shine.

The home side were also minus two defencemen as Danny Meyers was banned and Pete Quiney missed the game due to injure.

The Flames took the lead after 74 seconds as Marcus Kristofferson fired home.

The Herd hit back as Pitchley scored and then he set-up Karpov to make it 2-1 at 8:13.

New Guildford captain Jez Lundin levelled things, but after great work from Karpov, Sutton made sure the visitors led at the first buzzer.

The only goal of the second session came 36 seconds, before the second buzzer as new Guildford import forward Eric Piatak opened his account.

He then had a hand in the go-ahead goal scored by Brit Andy McKinney at 47:14.

However, this was as good as it got for the home side as Joe Rand tied the game at 4-4 and then Sutton made it 5-4 with eight minutes left.

The Flames pulled their goalie Stephen Wall in the final minutes, but the move back fired as Connolly netted a sixth for the Bison.

The Herd complete their pre-season campaign with a trip to Milton Keynes on Wednesday night (7.30pm) and their English Premier League campaign starts on Saturday (6.30pm) with the Guildford the visitors.
