THE BASINGSTOKE under-14 Bison hit a magnificent seven goals as they extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 7-1 victory over Bracknell at the Hive last Sunday.
The visitors were in control of the contest from the start and took the lead after just 25 seconds, when man-of-the-match Oliver Bower’s superb pass was latched on to by Elliot Lewis.
The advantage was doubled soon after, as this time Tyton Cathcart picked up a loose puck and found Bower, who netted with a wrist shot.
The young Herd completed a 3-0 opening period as Kody Sewell scored from close range, netting spirit-of-the-game winner William Birch’s rebound.
The Bison added to their tally soon after the interval, as Sam Hemmings-Maher stole the puck and found Travis Penny, who in turn fed Emily Harris to score, and then Lewis netted his second of the game as he intercepted a loose pass.
Bracknell had a great chance to get on the scoreboard as they were given a two-man advantage, but it was the Bison who scored as an excellent pass from Sewell released Lewis to complete his hat-trick.
The final period saw the visitors add a seventh goal on the powerplay from Harris, before Bracknell completed the match scoring.
The under-14s will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run when they entertain league leaders Milton Keynes on Sunday (6.30pm) and before this game the under-12 Bison face Bracknell (4.40pm).
On Saturday, also at the Basingstoke Arena, the under-10 Bison are in action from 4.40pm, while the Bison Ladies resume their home campaign against Cardiff (6.30pm).
