TRAVIS Penny was on the money, scoring five times as the Basingstoke under-12 Bison recorded their biggest win of the season, 9-0, in Haringey.
Penny took just 12 seconds to open the scoring and then 42 seconds later it was 2-0 as the same player struck again after a great defence-splitting pass from Sam Hemming-Maher.
Kody Sewell added a third goal for the young Herd after some great work from Harry Brooks and then Penny completed his hat-trick as the Bison ended the first period 4-0 up.
Five seconds after the re-start, Penny netted again after a nice pass from man-of-the-match Ty Cathcart. Hemming-Maher made it 6-0 and then Penny grabbed his fifth of the game.
Goal number eight was scored by Oliver Hemming-Maher with a one-time shot from the hash marks from a Harry Stoneham pass.
The final goal of the game saw Penny turn provider for Sam Hemming-Maher to score.
Lewis Grimshaw collected his first shut-out of the season, turning away 13 shots, while the spirit-of-the-game winner was Seth King.
Connor Hutchison and Chris Hocquigny both scored braces in the under-16sā defeat at Slough, while Sam Compton and Oliver Bower collected one assist each.
Matt Lawday scored a hat-trick as Basingstoke Buffalo won a thrilling South West Two top-of-the-table clash at Cardiff Devils 4-3.
The visitors opened the scoring at 9:43, as Ben Edwards scored, assist-ed by Daniel Lackey and Roberto Tambellini.
Lawday, with his first goal of the game, made it 2-0, before Cardiff opened their account just before the first buzzer on the powerplay.
There were no goals in the second session and Cardiff took just six seconds of the final period to tie the game.
Man-of-the-match Lawday edged the Buffalo in front again, as he finished a move involving Mark Pitts and Lackey at 49:36, but two minutes later, Cardiff equalised.
A late penalty gave the Buffalo a powerplay and Lawday fired in the game winner 34 seconds from time.
This Sunday, the Buffalo are on the road again as they travel to Swindon Wildcats.
