BASINGSTOKE TOWN manager Jason Bristow is looking for his side to keep in touch with new Vanarama Conference South leaders Boreham Wood.

The Hertfordshire side took over from the Dragons at top after two wins in the space of three days earlier this week.

They have opened up a four-point lead, but Town have two games in hand on their rivals and return to league action on Saturday, with St Albans City the visitors to the Soccer AM Stadium.

Town lost their last league outing a fortnight ago against Chelmsford City, but drew on Saturday in the FA Cup first round against Telford.

Town boss Bristow said: “Boreham Wood have opened up a little bit of a gap and we don’t want to let them get away.

“We have to focus on Saturday’s game first and get a result, before we start thinking about Tuesday’s replay in Telford.”

St Albans have lost both their league games this month and are currently 14th in the table.

The Dragons are hoping to have striker Lloyd Macklin back in their line-up, while another front man, Liam Enver-Marum, is expected to figure on Tuesday.

Recent midfield signing James Harper picked up a dead leg against Telford, but is expected to be fit for the visit of St Albans and otherwise Town have no fresh injury worries.

Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, Bristow said: “We know because we are doing so well, teams now come here and try and stop us playing.

“We now know how to get a result if plan A does not work – we have to have a Plan B or C to succeed.”

Thanks to the sponsors of the club, the cost for supporters to travel to the FA Cup first round replay at AFC Telford is £7.50.

However, only cash payments can be accepted and payment must be made by the end of Saturday’s game at home to St Albans at the club office.

The supporters’ coach will leave at 3.30pm on Tuesday afternoon.
