THE Clere School pupil Holly Mills got 2015 off to the best possible start, winning the under-17 long jump at the English Championships.
Mills, who is a member of Andover Athletic Club, leapt 6.02m to claim a comfortable victory in the event.
It was a jump that took her to the top of the UK rankings and put her 11th on the all-time list for under-17 girls indoors.
Two members of Basingstoke and Mid Hants Athletic Club also travelled to Sheffield for the championships.
Amelia Cook finished fifth in the under-17 shot thanks to a throw of 12.06m, while Matthew Comer was sixth in the under-17 800m final.
