THE COLLARD family from Hook enjoyed a great weekend on the track in Scotland and France.

Rob enjoyed a double winning success at the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill, while oldest son Ricky finished third in the latest round of the World Karting Championship at Angerville.

Rob’s across the border to the most northern round of the season proved a fruitful one as he qualified an excellent second and beat pole sitter Jason Plato off the line to lead by the first bens.

From there he was never headed even if early part of the race was run behind a safety car.

As soon as the race started again Collard easied away from team mate Tom Onslow-Cole for this second victory of the season following on from the season opener at Brands Hatch.

The second race saw Collard lead from start to finish except for a lap when he let team mate Tom Onslow-Cole pass to gain an extra point.

The reverse grid was not kind to Collard as he had start race three from 10th and an incident on lap four saw Collard unable to avoid hitting Gordon Shedden as he returned to the circuit which damaged his steering for the rest of the race.

He had to settle for ninth place, but will all the e-bay Motors BMW’s in the top 10 it was another great points haul for the team which took them seven points clear of Pirtek Racing at the top of the Independents Constructions Championship.

Meanwhile, in France Ricky Collard was also enjoying that winning feelings as he won four heats and then followed that with a third in the final.

It now puts him only 15 points behind the leader of the championship with the final meeting being in Bahrain in November.

Looking back on a great day for the family Rob Collard said: “I was getting text messages from Ricky about his wins and so I had to go out and match him. This is the first time I have ever got two race wins in one meeting and I also managed to set a new lap record which was a mega achievement being that the car is the old S2000 spec.

“The car went really well from the off and I think I could have finished in the top five if the steering had not been broken in race three.”

“I was thrilled to learn at the end of the day that Ricky had finished third which was made it in the end a great day for the family.”

Collard is next in BTCC action at Rockingham on September 23.
