DERBY day battles will be on the agenda this weekend as the Basingstoke Bison go head-to-head with the Bracknell Bees and Slough Jets.

The Bees buzz into town on Saturday, while 24 hours later the Herd travel to the Berkshire. Both games have a 6.30pm face-off.

Saturday night will also see Basingstoke wear their one-off Christmas jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game in Wolfies and could make an ideal Christmas present.

The evening will also include the annual teddy bear toss in aid of Naomi House, when fans throw cuddly toys on to the ice.

Fans are asked to make sure that the teddy bears have a CE tag and are also placed in a plastic bag.

The Bison currently boast a nine game winning streak but will be weakened this weekend as power forward Chris Wiggins are defenceman Ricky Skene are expected to sit out with groin injuries.

Meanwhile, Ciaran Long could be in the line-up on Saturday night, but departs to Belarus on Sunday with the rest of the Great Britain under-20s squad for the World Championships.

Despite this, Bison player/coach Steve Moria believes his side can keep their winning run going and said: “It is going to be tough with three guys out of the line-up, but I still feel we can take the points in both games.”

“We are not going to take Bracknell lightly as they are a dangerous team and will be desperate to add to their win last week.”

On Sunday’s opponents, Moria added: “Slough are extremely strong in their own rink and we know we will be in for tough game.”
