The GP circuit at Donington Park witnessed a flurry of racing action over the weekend, marking a return to the 2.49-mile layout for the first time in the championship since 2002, writes Tim Crisp.

In a mixed-weather setting, drivers faced challenging conditions, delivering some remarkable performances across various championships.

Ricky Collard and his Toyota Gazoo Racing UK Corolla GR Sport car seemed to have developed a liking for the Donington track.

Collard's consistent improvement was evident throughout the races. He secured two fourth-place finishes and a sixth-place finish, accumulating valuable championship points.

Currently positioned 7th in the title race, with only two rounds remaining, Collard's focus now shifts to the upcoming Silverstone races scheduled for September 23-24.

The Porsche events at Donington also proved to be compelling spectacles. In the Porsche Carrera Cup GB championship, rookie driver Harry Foster displayed commendable prowess with a pair of strong performances.

Foster claimed a sixth and ninth place finish, elevating him to the 9th spot overall in the Pro class and a notable 2nd in the Rookie class. Steering his Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Team Parker 911 GT3 Cup Car, Foster showcased promising potential.

Meanwhile, the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB Championship witnessed a varied weekend for local drivers.

Edward Stanton, piloting the Toto Verde GT 718 Cayman GT4 car, secured a 6th place finish in race one. However, the following races saw unfortunate DNFs.

Matthew Kyle Hennney of the SW Engineering team managed two 10th place finishes and an 11th, positioning himself as the 3rd contender in the Amateur class standings.

The Vertu Motors Mini Challenge Trophy races were marked by their typical close competition and thrilling action.

Across three races, Alex Keens made his presence felt, adding to his impressive points tally. His results included a 5th, 8th, and 9th in the overall race, along with two 2nd and a 3rd in class.

With these performances, Keens heads to Silverstone, currently standing 12th overall and holding a 5th place in the Rookie cup.
