BASINGSTOKE'S Bradley Sutton and Myles Pillage won a bronze medal in the Junior European Pentathlon Championships Mens Relay in Barcelona.
They started with a blistering time of 1min 44.75 seconds in the swim, which put them nearly seven seconds clear of the field.
In the fencing hall, the University of Bath based duo held their own with 19 victories from their 40 bouts, seeing them finish the morning in third overall.
The pair teamed up in the Junior Europeans men’s relay last year where they suffered a tough time in the horse-riding arena. However, they put those demons behind them this year, a perfect clear round seeing Pillage and 19-year-old Sutton pick up the maximum 300 points to go second.
With the Hungarian and Polish teams both close behind, it was set for a race-long battle for silver and bronze ahead of the laser run. Poland pulled away, so it became a battle for bronze with Hungary and thanks to a personal best in the shooting of a perfect five in 8.9 seconds from Sutton, the Brits finished third.
Next up for Sutton is the Junior Worlds in Klado, Czech Republic at the end of July.
