BASINGSTOKE and North Hants are hoping their new overseas player South African Sibonelo Makhanya will be able to make his debut for the side a week, when the Bountymen entertain Lymington.
The former South African under-19 captain, who won the World Cup in 2014, flew in last week and watched his side in action for the first time last Saturday, when their game against St Cross was abandoned with only 39 overs played.
The 22-year-old all-rounder (pictured front row far left) played during the winter for Durban Dolphins and is not the first South African to turn out for the Bountymen, as he follows in the footsteps of former Test star Charl Willoughby.
New boy Makhanya said: "I am really excited to be here and I really want to learn from the players at the club. I want to make myself a better cricketer and I am looking forward to the summer."
As he currently does not have a coaching qualification he is unable to play for the Bountymen, hence his delayed debut.
He will once again have to watch from sidelines, when they travel to the Ageas Bowl to take on the Hampshire Academy in third Southern League Premier Division game of the season.
They make one change to the side against St Cross, with Brad Neal coming in for Max Harsham.
