DARREN Turner hit the first century of this season’s Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup as Old Basing booked their place in the second round of the competition with a 130-run victory over Rotherwick ITW.
Turner scored 130 not out and was supported by an unbeaten 82 from Matt Donaldson as Basing made 249-1 in 18 overs. Paul Buckingham (54) led the reply as Rotherwick ITW reached 119-4.
The first round games continue tonight, when Basingstoke Hockey face St Mary’s at May’s Bounty. On Monday, Stratfield Turgis take on Rotherfield Park.
