BASINGSTOKE chess player Daniel Yu, a pupil at St Marks Church of England School, won the Supremo title in the under-eight boys section at the Hampshire Junior Megafinals held at the Everest College, with a remarkable six wins out of six.
There was a hat-trick of joy for the Vanlint family as they will provide three players in the Giga Finals.
Charlotte Vanlint led the way with a good second place in the under-seven girls section and William Vanlint did well to qualify out of a tough under-10 boys group.
Not to be outdone, Elizabeth Vanlint after a slow start, picked up and won the girls under-12 Supremo title.
The Everest College proved to be an excellent venue and great credit must also go to organisers Amy Grieve and Paul Vanlint.
