This live event has finished

  • FULL-TIME - Farnborough 0-3 Basingstoke Town
  • Town complete double over north Hampshire rivals to move up to ninth in the Conference South, five points off the play-off places.
  • Manny Williams gives Town the lead after just three minutes.
  • David Ray heads in a second seven minutes before the break.
  • Williams wraps up the points from the penalty spot with 10 minutes to go.

That's all for tonight. I'm not making the trip to Dover on Saturday but fingers crossed Town can get another good result.

I'll be covering Basingstoke RFC's crucial match at home to Barking live on Saturday and will be back on Town duty on Tuesday, when Eastbourne Borough visit the Camrose.

Pretty comfortable in the end for Town, though it was a closer game than the scoreline suggests. A big three points though and they are up to ninth in the table, five points off the play-off places.

Williams was excellent up front today, while I was also impressed with Dunn and Jenkinson in the middle of the park.

Reaction to follow.

Farnborough 0-3 Basingstoke Town

90+2 - Matthews has a shot blocked, while Smart's effort on the follow-up forces Scriven into a low save at his near post.

There will be three minutes of added time.

89 - The ball drops to Harry Lee just outside the Town area - but he manages to clear the stand with his shot. It must be higher than a house. Impressive, and it gets a warm round of applause from the Basingstoke fans.

Basingstoke Town - Robbie Matthews on for Manny Williams (84)

83 - The ball drops to Bennett in space on the left side area but he can only volley wide. Sums up Farnborough's night.

Farnborough 0-3 Basingstoke Town - Manny Williams pen (80)

MANNY WILLIAMS finds the bottom right corner, beating Scriven, who dived the right way. Surely that's it.

79 - Green is brought down by Josh Huggins and Town have a penalty. Looked a bit soft from up here.

77 - Lowe works space for a shot from the left side of the area, but that's a horrible shot. Way over.

The game has lost a bit of its impetus, which is good news for Town. They'd still like another goal to make sure though.

71 - Josh Huggins flashes a ball across the face of goal, but nobody is there to touch it in.

68 - Another big chance, this time for Farnborough. They have looked a bit more dangerous in the last couple of minutes and Lowe gets space on the left side of the area.

Wells parries his angled drive and it looks like Connor French has a tap-in, but the ball gets caught under his feet a couple of yards from goal and Town manage to clear.

Farnborough - Adam Doyle on for Matt Ball (63)

62 - Even closer for the visitors. The resulting corner is only cleared as far as Smart 10 yards out. His shot is beaten away by Scriven, with Gasson's attempt on the follow-up crashing against the crossbar.

62 - Nearly a third. Gasson gets up to meet Adam Green's corner and it takes a great save from Scriven to tip the ball over.

61 - There looked to be little danger from that low ball in from Smart, but Alan Inns almost slices the ball into his own net.

57 - That's a nice ball from Jenkinson and Scriven has to be off his line quickly to deny Williams on the edge of the area, just beating him to the ball.

Farnborough are really pushing men forward, leaving a lot of space for Town to exploit on the break.

56 - Good link-up between Williams and Ibe, but Ibe slices badly wide.

54 - A bustling run from Ibe takes a few defenders out of the game. He had done the hard part and failed to make a simple pass. Could have been a real chance if he had.

52 - Williams robs a defender on the edge of the area and is through. He shoots wide but the referee had blown up for a foul anyway.

Farnborough - Connor French and Tyrone Berry on for Phil Page and George Sykes (51)

49 - Town break dangerously following a Farnborough corner. Ibe is in acres of space and is found by Williams but the return cross does not reach the striker and the chance is snuffed out.

47 - Bennett lets fly from distance but it's well wide.

Basingstoke Town - Kezie Ibe on for Jordace Holder-Spooner (45)

Half-time change for Town. Holder-Spooner had struggled to get into the game and he is replaced by Ibe in the attack.

We are under way in the second half.

The players are coming back out for the start of the second half.

This game is the second of three in the space of five days for Town, who reached the final of the Hampshire Senior Cup two days ago. Will be interesting to see if they tire in the second half.

Slightly worryingly, they have also thrown away two-goal leads in their last two games. Hopefully that run comes to an end tonight. First 10 minutes of the second half will be vital.

A good away performance from Town. Farnborough have had more of the ball and probably been the better side overall, but the visitors have been better in both boxes.

They have taken both of their only real chances and defended pretty well.

Farnborough 0-2 Basingstoke Town

There will be just the one minute of added time.

41 - Bennett has a shot from distance but it's an easy save for Wells. Straight at him.

Farnborough 0-2 Basingstoke Town - David Ray (38)

Against the run of play but that's terrible defending. A free-kick from halfway is flicked on by a home defender and DAVID RAY is alone in the six-yard box to nod past Scriven and double the lead.

33 - Jenkinson lets fly from fully 30 yards and is so unlucky. It's an outstanding, dipping shot but it just comes down too late and crashes against the crossbar.

33 - It's all Farnborough at the moment, with Sykes just failing to get enough on a cross to trouble Wells.

30 - George Sykes knocks the ball down for Lowe to run on to in the right channel. His ball across goal finds only David Ray, but his touch almost lets Sykes in, the defender somehow managing to clear.

27 - That should have been 1-1. Farnborough are playing at a really good tempo at the moment and that's a neat one-two between Bennett and Lowe in the area.

Lowe fires in an angled drive from the left side of the area and while Wells makes the save, it looks like a tap-in for Phil Page. However, he is caught off balance and can only flick the ball wide on the stretch.

22 - Spell of pressure for the hosts. Gasson just about flicks a dangerous Daniel Bennett cross away, while Luis Morrison-Derbyshire had a free header from a resulting corner, but nodded too close to Louis Wells in the Town goal.

Not much to get excited about at the moment. Bit of a midfield battle, with the defences on top.

Been impressed by Andrew Jenkinson and Simon Dunn in the centre of the park. It's a young pairing but they are doing well at the moment.

15 - Strong run from Rice but Soares' cross only finds the empty stand behind the goal.

13 - Persistence from Smart wins Town their first corner of the match. It causes problems, the ball being headed back across goal, but Jay Gasson was unable to get enough on his poke at goal.

Farnborough are also playing 4-4-2. The pitch looks in decent shape. A couple of areas have had some sand but it's okay overall.

7 - Farnborough are pressing for an equaliser. Phil Page lays the ball back to Jamal Lowe and his low shot takes a deflection on its way wide.

Farnborough 0-1 Basingstoke Town - Manny Williams (3)

That's a good start. It was Town's first real attack and MANNY WILLIAMS somehow gets free in the area. He has so much time and makes no mistake, slotting into the bottom corner.

It's 4-4-2 for Town, with Smart on the right and Louie Soares on the left.

Town get the game under way. They are shooting towards the imposing, but cordoned off, stand at one end of the pitch. Not many people here.

Here come the players.

This is the only game in the division tonight. Farnborough are four points behind Town, who will end the night 10th no matter what happens.

However, win by more than two goals and they will move up to ninth, five points outside the play-off places with games still in hand over most of the sides above them.

I've just been told that Kieran Greene is the Academy goalkeeper, while David Tarpey is no longer at Farnborough. No wonder he's not involved!

Farnborough: Scriven, Huggins, Treacher, Lee, Inns, Morrison-Derbyshire, Bennett, Ball, Sykes, Lowe, Page. Subs: French, Berry, Doyle, Bosch, Cole.

Basingstoke Town: Wells, Rice, Green, Jenkinson, Gasson, Ray, Smart, Dunn, Holder-Spooner, Williams, Soares. Subs: Adams, Matthews, Ibe, Johnson-Schuster, Greene.

With the exception of the injured Wes Daly, it's the same Town team that started the 2-2 draw with Maidenhead on Saturday. Robbie Rice comes in for the club captain, so it looks like Nathan Smart will start in midfield.

With Daly, Shaun McAuley and Neil Barrett all out injured, Town have named inexperienced duo Marcus Johnson-Schuster and Kieran Greene on the bench. Greene is an Academy player and it may well be his first time involved in the first team.

Farnborough are without former Town striker David Tarpey, but they do have an ex-Basingstoke goalkeeper in Kevin Scriven.
