Hirst scores from close range as Sheffield are very much back in this game.

Korhon is denied by great save by Skinns and then knocks over the ref. Seconds later Chinn is denied.

Poor powerplay from the Steeldogs no bite at all

Puck drops for the start of the final 20 minutes with Sheffield on the powerplay as Graham takes a roughing penalty from the end of the second period.

END OF SECOND PERIOD - Bison 4 Steeldogs 2

The Steeldogs are back in this game thanks to their goalie Sedlar as he has produced the best 20 minutes this season to stop the Herd adding to their tally.

Still plenty of action to come, but Payette might well focus on the game as the next goal is likely to decide the outcome of this game.

With six seconds left Payette looks to crash into a group of players on the boards and is pushed away by Kurt Reynolds. The red mist comes down for the Sheffield player and he has to be held back as the buzzer goes Payette looks to have another go with Reynolds and has to escorted off the ice.

Nice breakaway strike from Calvert.

Teams down to four-on-four hockey after Connolly and Duncombe depart for roughing.

Sheffield have started the second session the better

Second period underway as Payette is sent to the sin bin for 10 minute for his chat with Wales at the end of the first period.

END OF FIRST PERIOD - Bison 4 Steeldogs 0

A super period of slick hockey from the Bison no one would have matched them in this form. Sheffield were lucky to have a single shot on goal, while Sedlar will be looking forward to a rest.

As the buzzer goes no surprise Payette has a few words with Bison's Michael Wales. The Sheffield player/coach trying to get his side some jump and feels a fight will do it.

Sheffield hit penalty trouble as Wood is joined by Duncombe for 71 seconds on a two man advantage and kill the lot thanks to a fistfull of saves from Sedlar. The Steeldogs also lose Lewis Bell on a 10 minute misconduct penalty.

Sheffield kill the first penalty of the night as Payette takes seconds to depart to the sin bin to chalk 200 penalty minutes.

First shot of the game and Karpov finds the net.

Here we go with Dean Skinns on net minding duty for the Bison and Sedlar for the Steeldogs.

Face-off slightly delayed as Sheffield arrived late, but will not be long now as the ice is being resurfaced.

Team news for this evening sees the Bison just minus Danny Ingoldsby.

The Steeldogs are minus British forward Craig Elliott, but all their other big penalty takers are in the line-up, so expect a physical contest this evening.

Sheffield's Polish import Mariusz Jakubik is rested so their four imports are Andre Payette, Greg Chambers and the big dangerman tonight Lubomir Korhon who scored four goals in his last game.

Dalibor Sedlar guards the pipes and is looking to add to the shut-out he enjoyed in this building last season.

This is the third meeting between these sides so far this season and both games have been decided by penalty shoot-outs with home side winning both. So we could be in for a long night tonight.

Good evening and welcome to tonight 's game between the Basingstoke Bison and Sheffield Steeldogs.
