BASINGSTOKE Town Ladies moved down a place to fifth in the Southern League Premier Division after losing 4-1 at home to Maidenhead United on Sunday.

Josette Pearmine scored Basingstoke’s only goal and they will be hoping for a better result on Sunday, when they host Shanklin in the Hampshire Cup.

The reserves claimed a 3-1 win over visiting Bournemouth Sports, Katie Hempton, Justine Mosley and Sam Mosley getting the goals.

Town’s male academy side sit ninth in the Conference Youth League after losing 4-2 away at Weston-super-Mare.

Town conceded goals either side of half-time to trail 2-0 before Lukas Burt pulled one back. Weston regained their two-goal cushion and while George Hallahan gave his side a chance of turning things around, the hosts scored late on to make the game safe.

Jason Bristow’s youngsters are next in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Bashley.
