HARTLEY Wintney gained almost instant revenge on Ash United, beating their local rivals 3-1 at the Memorial Ground.

Ash won 3-1 when the sides had met in the reverse fixture the previous week – but Hartley turned the tables on Saturday.

Adam Everiss gave them the lead from Shane Hollamby’s pass on 20 minutes, while Hollamby, Sam Argent and Everiss all had chances to double the lead.

Ash levelled on the counter-attack to make it 1-1 at the break but Hartley regained the lead on 55 minutes, Argent slotting home from the penalty spot after being fouled in the area.

The hosts were in control for the remainder of the game and Hollamby secured the points in the final 10 minutes, running from his own half to the edge of the box before firing home.

Hartley manager Ben Dillon said: “We are getting players back from injury now and hopefully that result is the one that sees us turn the corner.”

The result leaves Hartley 16th in the Combined Counties Premier Division ahead of a home game against bottom side Bedfont Sports on Saturday. Their trip to Molesey, which was due to take place tonight, has been postponed.

Dillon said: “We are confident and we need to put a good run together now if we are to climb the table.”
